Orientation
This famous center of south-western art and architecture rests against the wooded foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Founded in 1610, Santa Fe enjoys a rich multicultural heritage. People come to visit its galleries, sample southwestern cuisine, and admire the gentle play of light and shadow on the smooth lines of its adobe buildings.
When to Go
Tourists fill Santa Fe during July and August when numerous festivals take place. To avoid the crowds, and enjoy the most pleasant weather, spring and fall are the best times to visit. Daytime temperatures in the spring and fall are warm, although they cool off after sundown.
